Moore Shoots Second-Round 70, Holds Leading Position For Medalist Honors Sunriver, Ore. – Patty Moore, 57, of Charlotte, N.C., shot the championship’s second sub-par round, a 1-under 70, to hold the lead for medalist honors at the halfway point of the second day of stroke play at the 2007 USGA Senior Women’s Amateur at Sunriver Resort’s 5,975-yard Meadows Course. The three-time winner of the North and South Senior Amateur, shot 75 Saturday for a 36-hole total of 3-over-par 145. "The morning rounds are easier to score with because the wind is down,” said Moore, a three-time Carolinas Golf Association Player of the Year. “I’ll take it.” Moore, who birdied holes 13, 14 and 15, added: “The three best putts I hit were the three birdies I made.” Citing strong iron play, Moore, who is playing in her seventh Senior Women’s Amateur, was safely into match play. "I’d have taken another solid round like I had (Saturday) but it got a little better than that,” she said. While she was one of the early finishers, her 36-hole number was at the top of the leaderboard, hinting at winning the medal. "That would be a real treat but I don’t think it will hold,” Moore said. “I’ll take being in the top 64.” Trailing by two strokes was 1999 Senior Women’s Amateur runner-up Cecilia Mourgue D’Algue, 61, of France, who shot 147 (74-73). Mourgue D’Algue has reached the semifinals three times. Four-time Carol Semple Thompson, of Sewickley, Pa., and Diane Lang, of Weston, Fla., the 2005 and 2006 champion, both have strong chances of making match play at 151 and 153, respectively. In addition, three-time winner, 73-year-old Marlene Stewart Streit, of Canada, looks to be comfortably placed at 155. Beatriz Arenas, 59, of Guatemala, who shot 70 to hold the lead after the first day, had an afternoon starting time as did Madelaine Campbell, 57, of Newport Beach, Calif., and Lou Hart, 55, of Meridian, Miss., who shot 73 Saturday. Carolyn Creekmore, 55, of Dallas, Texas, who won the title in 2004, also plays later. Patricia French, of Tulsa, Okla., scored the seventh known hole-in-one in championship history on the par-3 16th hole while shooting 78 in the morning.
