Anne Sander shot a 1-over par 73 on the last day and came from four strokes behind to capture her fourth USGA Senior Women's Amateur title, at Preakness Hills Country Club, in Wayne, N.J.

Sander, 55, of Santa Barbara, Calif. Shot 230 for three rounds and finished four strokes ahead of Maryanne Morrison, of Dubois, Wyo., who finished 75-234.

Sander also won the Senior Women's championship in 1987, 1989 and 1990. She was runner-up in 1991 and 1992.

Barbara Stephen, of Torrance, Calif., was the leader after two rounds with 75-78-153 but she fell to an 89 on the last day and finished in a tie for sixth place.

The Senior Women's championship is the only one of The USGA's amateur competitions conducted at stroke play.
