Mrs. Philip Cudone, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., won her fifth consecutive Championship at the Manufacturers' Golf and Country Club, Oreland, Pa., and thus established a record.

Only seven other players won as many as three consecutive USGA Championships. They are Willie Anderson (Open); Miss Beatrix Hoyt (Women's Amateur); Mrs. Alexa Stirling Fraser (Women's Amateur); Mrs. Glenna Collett Vare (Women's Amateur); Miss Virginia Van Wie (Women's Amateur); Miss Hollis Stacy (Girls' Junior), and Carl Kauffman (Amateur Public Links).

After a shaky first round of 82 which left her in a tie for seventh place with Mrs. I. Wayne Rutter, of Buffalo, N.Y., Mrs. Cudone scored 76-73 in the last two rounds for a total of 231, six strokes ahead of Mrs. Rutter, the runner-up. Mrs. Rutter kept pace with Mrs. Cudone for the first two days, shooting 82-76, but scored 79 in the last round against Mrs. Cudone's 73.

In third place was Mrs. Helen Sigel Wilson, of Philadelphia, runner-up in the Women's Amateur Championship in 1941 and 1948. Mrs. Cudone's 231 total equaled the Championship record she set in 1970 at Coral Ridge Country Club, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Her 73 was a competitive course record for the difficult Manufacturers' course, which measured 5,832 yards.

The field was composed of 85 players from 24 states. This was the second Senior Women's Championship for the Manufacturers' Golf and Country Club, which was host to the inaugural in 1962.
