Mrs. Allison Choate, of Rye, N.Y., went four extra holes on top of an 18-hole playoff round to win the second Championship at The Country Club of Florida, Delray Beach. Mrs. Choate trailed Miss Maureen Orcutt of Englewood, N.J., the defending Champion, by four strokes with five holes to play in the regulation 54-hole stroke play Championship and capped her rally with a 25-foot putt for a birdie 4 on the 54th hole. Each scored 239.

Next day in a playoff, Miss Orcutt again seemed on the way to a successful defense when she led by three strokes with three holes remaining. A bunker at the 16th proved her undoing and they finished in a tie at 81. On the fourth extra hole of sudden death, Mrs. Choate won with a birdie 2. Mrs. William R. Kirkland, Jr., of New York, was third with 241 for 54 holes. Next, at 247, was the six time former Women's Amateur Champion, Mrs. Glenna Collett Vare, of Philadelphia.

In age class competition, Mrs. Choate repeated in Class A (50-54); Miss Orcutt in Class B (55-59) and Mrs. Vare won Class C (60 and over).
